Heparinase Coagulation Diagnostics

Both heparin and low molecular weight heparin are among the many factors that affect the results of most common coagulation diagnostics. Retesting patient blood, following the neutralization of these anticoagulants often facilitates the interpretation of coagulation test results.

Three heparin neutralization agents are commonly used in clinical diagnostics. Two of these, protamine and polybrene are limited by their lack of specificity for heparin and by their limited ability to neutralize low molecular weight heparin. The third heparin neutralization agent, Heparinase I, rapidly and specifically neutralizes both heparin and low molecular weight heparin.

IBEX manufactures Heparinase I and incorporates it into a range of clinical diagnostic products manufactured and distributed by several companies specializing in hematology diagnostics and point-of-care instrumentation.
